La Florida

There are some superb bars and restaurants in La Florida offering lively entertainment. La Florida is located slightly inland on the Orihuela Costa and is a popular residential area with British and Irish holidaymakers and expats. The majority of bars and restaurants in La Florida are situated on Calle Escorpio. There is also a scattering of establishments in neighbouring Las Mimosas. These are equally as popular with British and Spanish visitors and residents.

Bars and Restaurants in La Florida

The most famous of the small strip of establishments along Calle Escorpio is the Abbey Tavern. This is an Irish themed bar & restaurant run by a Spanish family. Indoors offers a well stocked bar, comfortable seating areas, a DJ booth and small dance floor. The spectacular gardens boast wonderful shade among the plants, trees and rockeries. Two outdoor bars keep the thirsty crowds well refreshed and there is plenty of seating for al fresco dining. The Abbey also has an outdoor stage for live performances and is the place to visit for late night fun and dancing.

Equally as popular, but mainly with Spanish residents is the Torre Bar. Delicious local cuisine is accompanied by great value beers and the usual generous Spanish measures of spirits. At times the kitchen staff will come out with tasty plates of free tapas. There is an indoor dining area and stage for live music as well as a lovely shady garden. Here during the summer they also offer live music and weekend BBQ's from their huge grill station.

Next to Torre Bar is Waldemars. A large terrace is inviting for al fresco dining, and evening entertainment includes karaoke nights. Their pizzas are popular, as are grilled steaks and fish. To end the night, a recently opened kebab takeaway will certainly soak up that excess alcohol. Of all the bars and restaurants in La Florida, the most popular during the day is The Emerald Isle. A local institute in the area, this friendly Irish bar boasts a huge swimming pool. Daily live entertainment is a big draw, as is their legendary Sunday roast with all the trimmings.

Bars and Restaurants in Las Mimosas

Another large swimming pool can be found at Piscina Bar (Pool Bar). This is located on Calle del Gorrión less than 10 minutes walk from La Florida's bars. This Spanish run establishment is a favourite with families who enjoy the day by the pool and maybe a round of mini golf. They do excellent paellas, although with it's popular leisure facilities prices are a bit high.

Behind Piscina Bar are two further Spanish run establishments. Cafe Las Mimosas, locally known as the shack, is an enclave for the areas British expat residents. They offer a small menu and selection of tapas dishes, and have regular live entertainment and quiz nights. Next to this is Horatio's and further up the hill is La Luna Bar & Restaurant. La Luna is popular with Scandinavian expat residents and the local Harley Davidson Riders Club.

Campoamor

The bars and restaurants in Campoamor are mainly centred around the beach area. Several others are located along Calle Caspio that leads to the inland residential areas of Campoamor.
