La Fuente Centre
La Fuente Centre is a large, sprawling dining and entertainment complex located inland on the Orihuela Costa. It lies between the residential areas of Campoamor and Villamartin. This area is very popular with holidaying golfers as it's surrounded by three excellent 18 hole courses. So, if there's a keen golfer in the family they can head off for a challenging round of golf while the rest of the family enjoy the delights of La Fuente Centre. Next to the centre is a large ‘Chino' supermarket. Just up the hill is a further well stocked Mercadona Supermarket and other bars.
La Fuente Centre Layout
The centre is built over two levels. Due to its location on a hill, both levels have wheelchair access. Visitors can browse a small selection of shops, a mini mart and bakery. There is also a couple of hair dressers and estate agents, a pharmacy and bank. The majority of entertainment venues are located central and to the front of the centre, with the exception being the aptly named Round The Back Eddies. All outlets offer terrace seating, some with sun shades.
La Fuente Centre Bars
As is the case with the majority of bars in Orihuela Costa, all seem to serve food even if it's just light snacks. Bar Kikiriki is a friendly little place with a firm following of British, Belgian and Dutch customers. Many of the expats on a budget head here for the great priced 2€ pints of beer during happy hour. For a more upmarket venue with a good selection of imported drinks, try the Champagne Bar. Fuego is the place to head for live music and rather spicy food. Also offering regular live music and a lively crowd is the sailing ship themed Tradewinds Bar.
La Fuente Centre Restaurants
The centre has an excellent selection of restaurants offering something for everyone. The young ones will enjoy New World Chinese and La Pizzaria. There is also Le Cafet serving great coffee, hot chocolate, teas, snacks, salads, pastries, cakes and ice creams. Khushi and Johnny Singh's serve up the British favourite curries. Meat lovers are catered for at The Stone Grill where you can cook your steak to your liking on a hot rock. La Braseria Barbecue is a great value Spanish restaurant serving exotic grilled meats and delicious fish and seafood.
Chillies is a local institute and booking is advisable. Don't let the name fool you, it's not all spicy and they have an extensive menu. Isabela's and La Piazza serve all your favourite dishes from Italy. By far the most well known and lively place at La Fuente Centre is The Stray Sod. This is an Irish bar serving wholesome home cooked favourites. They also do an excellent pint of Guinness and Irish cider and have a Golf Society and regular live music.
