The fantastic Villamartin Plaza is one of the most popular commercial centres in Orihuela Costa. Due to the fact that Orihuela Costa is neither a town or city, each of its residential areas boast their own services and usually at least one commercial centre. This means that wherever holidaymakers may be staying, they are never far from a great choice of shops and restaurants. An added bonus is the majority of these centres have an area for live entertainment.
Villamartin Plaza Location
Villamartin is a sought after residential area located a few kilometres inland from La Zenia. It boasts a number of individual bars and restaurants, a championship standard 18 hole golf course, and right next door to the course, the Villamartin Plaza. Opposite the plaza is a car park, various commercial businesses, Chadwicks Bar and the very popular Nan King Chinese restaurant, complete with its rather crazy owner. To the side of the plaza is a further car park, souvenir shop and a large and handy ‘Chino' bric-a-brac store.
Villamartin Plaza Layout
The plaza has pleasant colonial architecture with shops, bars and dining outlets built over two levels. Above these are a number of apartments for rent and holiday let. The front entrance is via stairs to both levels. Here there is also disabled ramps to the lower level. There are further entrances at both sides of the plaza and disabled access to the top level is at the back by the tattoo shop. Once in the central courtyard there are several other staircases to the upper level.
Throughout Villamartin Plaza there are numerous species of plants and trees as well as palms, rockeries and water features. The lovely central courtyard boasts a wonderful social scene and stage for regular excellent live performances. This is also the venue for charity events and even wedding ceremonies. During the summer months, to the side of the courtyard is a play area for the young ones. Here there are usually trampolines, arcade games, pool table and air hockey.
Villamartin Plaza Dining & Leisure
Aside from a small supermarket, post room and several banks, estate agents and hairdressers, the plaza is wall to wall bars and restaurants. The lower level venues offer the most outdoor seating as they also make use of the courtyard. Upstairs the venues have smaller dining terraces that overlook the central courtyard and entertainment stage. A superb choice of local and international cuisine is on offer including popular Indian restaurants and a kebab shop.
Quesada Fish & Chips does a roaring trade, as does the ever popular Fairways Restaurant. If you fancy cooking your own steak to your liking, you can do so at Steak Stones Restaurant. Popular bars include The Hub Sports & Lounge Bar, Chemies, The Tavern and The Ale House. For those that fancy partying until the early hours, head to the lively Passion Nightclub.
