Activities

Enjoying a variety of activities is high on the agenda for many holidaymakers visiting sunny Orihuela Costa. Some visitors are content spending lazy days on the splendid Blue Flag Award beaches. Here you can take part in free activities such as keeping fit with the beach exercise equipment or playing a game of volleyball. Snorkelling, unless as part of a tour, is another very popular free activity. Floating adventure platforms are super fun for the young ones and pedalos offer a more sedate family activity, some featuring built in water slides.
Free Activities In Orihuela Costa

Simply enjoying a swim or bit of snorkelling is the most popular free activity. Swimming is pleasant most of the year round and during the summer months all the main beaches have lifeguards. Beach facilities in Orihuela Costa are excellent and most offer disability access. Dividing the main beaches are a number of rocky coves. These are great fun to snorkel and you may even find a sea urchin or two to snack on. Snorkelling can also be enjoyed as a paid excursion. These are on boat trips, jet ski adventures, kayak tours and snorkelling safaris.

Hiking and jogging are also popular free activities. Beach promenades provide relatively flat surfaces perfect for jogging. The entire length of the Orihuela Costa coastline boasts a lovely coastal path. This is ideal for hiking and offers wonderful views. There are ample places along the way to enjoy refreshments. Bring along a snorkelling set and you can stop to explore the more promising coves. During the peak summer months visitors will sometimes find beach parties going on. Bring along a few cans of beer or bottle of wine and enjoy a free party.
Water Activities In Orihuela Costa

Scuba diving is an all time favourite water activity. Not the cheapest of activities but something everyone should try at least once. Basic introductory dives as well as numerous PADI certified courses are available from various dive shops and schools. Stand up paddle and kayaking are a terrific way to explore the coast. Equipment can be hired individually or as part of a guided excursion. So popular are jet skis, their noise has really just become background sound to any of the Orihuela Costa beaches. These are expensive to hire but provide the ultimate thrill.

Many of the more exciting water activities are based in neighbouring Torrevieja. These include coasteering adventures. This is the perfect adrenaline sport for the fitter participant. The sport combines rock climbing, swimming, cliff jumping, rock scrambling, hiking and sometimes even zip-line. Other water activities to enjoy in Torrevieja include cable skiing, powerful jet boat, the crazy invention of flyboarding, and both shore based and deep sea sport fishing. Further inland near Murcia visitors can try white water rafting along the River Segura.
Land Activities In Orihuela Costa

Go-karting provides a super fun family day out. Go-Karts Orihuela Costa is one of the best activity centres on the Costa Blanca. There are both adult and junior karting tracks. Karts are available for all age groups including double karts. Fun little cars and boats, bouncy castles and arcade games keep the younger children amused. Here you can also enjoy pelting friends and family on the paintball course and a large cafeteria provides food and refreshments.

One of the cheapest land activities to enjoy is cycling. Various hire shops offer a selection of bikes for all ages. Road cycling, racing and training are popular in Orihuela Costa. This is due to the flat service roads running parallel to the area's series of irrigation canals. There are also great areas to practice mountain biking. Those who prefer the clip clop of horses hooves will find several equestrian centres and riding schools offering a variety of treks and lessons.

Quad bike and scooter tours are a fun activity and great way to explore the area. Scooter tours mainly stick to tar roads but some of the excursions take in gentle dirt tracks. Quad bike tours are generally on dirt roads and wilderness tracks. However, if the tour needs to negotiate some public roads a driving licence is required. So, when planning a fun holiday full of exciting or more gentle activities, you really can't go wrong with the popular area of Orihuela Costa.
