The Filton Centre boasts a lively collection of bars and restaurants located in the residential area of Los Balcones. Thought of by most as part of the Orihuela Costa, Los Balcones is actually a satellite suburb of neighbouring Torrevieja. Due to this it has a regular bus service to and from the city. Many Spanish who work in Torrevieja choose to stay in the quieter, more family orientated Los Balcones. The Filton Centre is handily situated behind Mercadona Supermarket.
Filton Centre Layout
Built over two levels, the centre has a few estate agencies, a hairdresser and the obligatory ‘Chino' bric-a-brac store. Near the main entrance is a small Dialprix Supermarket and next to the large Mercadona Supermarket on the main road is a handy pharmacy. Aside from these, the centre is home to a good selection of bars and restaurants with a lift to the top level.
The centre is very popular with families. One reason for this is its close proximity to two supermarkets. Many families choose to do their weekly shopping and enjoy drinks or a meal at the centre. Another superb family feature is the large park and playground just a couple of minutes walk up the road. Here whilst adults enjoy a few drinks at the centre, the young ones can head for the park. The park features two mini soccer pitches, handball and basketball courts, table tennis, skate park, swings, picnic areas and even a dog park.
Filton Centre Bars & Restaurants
The centre offers a decent selection of bars and restaurants to suit most tastes. For an early morning coffee and tostada before work, many locals head for Restaurante Filton. Restaurante Kalinka serves up wholesome Russian dishes. El Balcon de las Tapas has a firm following of expat residents. Here you can enjoy a free tapa with your drinks order. You can also tuck into a barbecue, sample their daily lunch and dinner set menu or try their delicious seafood.
The popular Alingui Restaurant offers an unbeatable three course meal for under 8€. Wood fired pizza is all the rage at Restaurante Don Camilo and a favourite with the young ones is Wan Yuan Chinese Restaurant. The majority of restaurants at the Filton Centre have a lively bar scene and outdoor terraces. Those wishing to enjoy a bit of the ‘craic' and a welcoming pint of Guinness will find the staff and customers at Dublin Pub always very accommodating.
